CAWP Celebrates its 50th Anniversary!

Dear CAWP Family,

As we celebrate this very special milestone of 50 years, knowing all too well that I won’t be here, (other

than in the spiritual way) in another 50 years, I would like to propose a challenge to all current and former

Members of the Connecticut Association of Women Police as well as members of the supporting public.

I would like to challenge that in these difficult times, that we dig deep within us, as an organization

And pledge $50.00 ($1.00 for each year of our being) as seed money for a certificate of deposit. This

Amount which I hope would reach ($5,000.00) would allow the organization to be able to earn interest

on these funds and hopefully, perpetuate and Increase the balance as the years lie ahead.

As only fitting, while at our meeting on Monday April 28, 2008, Justine Miller, a retiree, pledge the first $50.00 towards this goal. Each contributing member would have their name placed on a Plaque in recognition of their personal contributions to this organization.

Won’t you please, meet my challenge, find those tag sales items to raise these dollars, work

Just those few extra OT hours, one hour at a time, ask others to help you contribute to this most worthy cause.

Those wishing to contribute can do so for the remainder of this calendar year of 2008.
All donation checks are to be made out to
CAWP
And mailed to:
 Ret. Sergeant Elizabeth A. Maziarz

266 Alewife Lane, Suffield, CT. 06078 or call (860) 668-4184.  Please note on check that donation

Is for CD (certificate of Deposit).

I will try to update through emails, how the fund progresses, and continue to let each and every

One of you know, when a member hits a grand slam…….Balance as of today 5/1/08, is

$100.00, now keep those checks flowing………As Reggie stated, we have to do it first before

We can ask others to do for us.

Fondly, Elizabeth Maziarz, CAWP member

The 50th Anniversay CAWP Spring Business Meeting hosted by Katleen Miller and Noemi Cagianello
was held on April 28, 2008 at the IL Monticello Restaurant in Meriden.  The guest speaker was Mary Galvin formerly of the Chief States Attorneys Office, who was incredible truthful and extremely informative regarding the contemporary issues facing law enforment today (post credits).  The silent auction was a great success and great fundraising ideas were presented.  Minutes from the meeting will be submitted in the upcoming newsletter.  Executive board member elections were also held and resulted in the following:
President - Det. K.C. Rodriguez, Hartford P.D.
Vice President - Agt. Elsie Diaz, South Windsor P.D.
Treasurer - Det. Mary Jo Russell, Hartford P.D.

Letter from the Board...

CAWP was established in 1958 and is the only officially recognized women's law enforcement organization in Connecticut! CAWP takes pride in the strides that we have made to date and are committed to emerging as a valuable resource to all female police officers across the State of Connecticut. Our mission is to create a support network for each other, one that offers a solid and reliable foundation of elite female officers.

CAWP is working hard to bring our members information through frequent emails and newsletters. Additionally, we are getting involved in sponsoring different fun-filled events and essential training seminars. If you are interested in being a part of CAWP's new found energy, please feel free to download an application. Or, if you have any questions or comments, please feel to contact any member of the Executive Board.

Warm Regards,
