Want an adrenaline rush in the AM before your coffee?  Try this…just as you awake in the morning instead of heading straight to the bathroom to shower and brush up, hit the floor.  Yes, I said hit the floor!  Commit yourself to doing 10 push-ups and alternate them with 25 sit-ups.  To start, do this repetitively 3-times.  Not only will be wide-eyed and bushy tailed but you will see results from the exercise and jumpstart to your metabolism.  Call it the UP Combo!  Push-ups, Sit-ups and your UP!

NOTE:
In response to the survey we sent out with reference to CAWP meetings, the Connecticut Association of Women Police E-Board is looking to contact the various police agencies that do not afford their officer the opportunity to attend our semi-annual CAWP Business & Training Meetings as a department training day.   We are doing this in attempts to accomodate those officers that wish to attend the meetings but cannot and those who wish to join the organization but do not because they would not be able to attend the meetings.  If your department does not offer you this as an option, please contact CAWP Vice President at
kosic001@hartford.gov.  Thank you.

2006 Spring Meeting

The Spring meeting was held at Brazi?s Restaurant in New Haven and was hosted By: Bette Simpson of Yale-New Haven University Police. For those of you who didn?t attend, the food and training (Gangs) was spectacular. You missed out, especially at the after meeting get together. Bette thank you, you did an awesome job organizing the meeting.

We had a smaller showing than usual for the meeting, approximately 30 Members attended. MEMBERS WHERE ARE YOU? The majority of the members in attendance were from the Hartford Area. Since the meeting was in New Haven we expected a big showing from our Southern members, but had a poor showing instead.

Fitness Tip :

Kick The new Year Into Gear even if you Are Crunched for Time
Doing a routine of Knee Strikes, Jab and Cross Punches, Running in Place, Front Kicks, Squats, Push-ups (20), Side Kicks, Four count sit-ups for one minute each with a 30-second rest period, a total four times and you will have burned over 250 calories while toning.  Try this quick bursts workout if you are crunch for time and you will achieve the same great results you would normally get from a moderately paced 1 hr, 15 min workout.  Remember, your workout is up to you, make it work!

Motivation: To make it easier for you to rise and shine and get to the gym, you should try this old trick.  Put POST-IT notes on your alarm clock or lamp that say things like, “Get up, you will feel so much better later!”  Or, be hardcore, “Get up lazy butt!”.  By Karla Rodriguez, Fitness Instructor
