CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN POLICE
WOMAN OFFICER OF THE YEAR
AWARD CRITERIA

  • Sworn peace officer, with powers of arrest
  • Nominated by any other sworn peace officer (does not have to be a supervisor)
  • Membership in C.A.W.P. not required
  • Detailed letter, including reasons for nomination
  • Copy of the related police report, if applicable to the nomination
     
  • Awards may be given in each of the following categories:

    1. Leadership
      1. Problem Solving
      2. Planning and organization
      3. Communication
      4. Administration
    2. Community Service
      1. Community or school projects
      2. Neighborhood watches
      3. Town meetings
      4. Special teams
      5. Cultural groups
      6. Other community related activities
    3. Mentoring
      1. Provided assistance to women in law enforcement
      2. Developed programs or policies favorable to women in law enforcement
      3. Served on committees to review women’s issues and propose recommendations
      4. Other skills or activities that have advanced women in law enforcement
    4. Excellence in Performance
      1. Investigative work
      2. Street activity
      3. Supervision or leadership
      4. Special assignments
      5. Decoy/sting operations
      6. Any other performance that is considered to be excellent
    5. Valor - act(s) of heroism or bravery
      1. At risk or personal safety
      2. In the face of great danger
      3. Above and beyond the call of duty
